Anandtech has confirmed that AMD’s Mantle patch for DICE’s blockbuster shooter of 2013, Battlefield 4, has been delayed to January 2014 to due the recent issues plaguing the game.
“After much consideration, the decision was made to delay the Mantle patch for Battlefield 4. AMD continues to support DICE on the public introduction of Mantle, and we are tremendously excited about the coming release for Battlefield 4! We are now targeting a January release and will have more information to share in the New Year.”
AMD’s Mantle is an API designed to improve gaming performance by optimizing GPUs with GCN architecture to work efficiently like they do on consoles. This is not the only feature delayed on the game as all development on upcoming downloadable content for BF4 has also been delayed.
Companies such as Eidos and Activision has also backed AMD’s Mantle program.
