AMD introduces Radeon R9 and R7 GPU Family at a Press Conference in Hawaii.
After weeks of leaks and rumours, AMD has finally revealed their brand new line-up of graphics cards. The R9 290X, R9 290, R9 280X, R9 270X, R7 260X and R7 250 with the 290X reclaiming the single GPU performance crown from the GTX Titan.
The flagship card named the R9-290X is the fastest card on the market (at the moment) taking shots at NVIDIA’s flagship model – the GTX Titan. The R9-290X runs the latest Hawaii chip with 2816 Shaders, 44 ROPs and 176 TMUs. The card comes with a base clock of 800MHz which supports a GPU boost of up to 1GHz. The new card also features 512-bit bus interface which allows for a ridiculous bandwidth over 300GB/s.
So far the release date has been set for October in the states. AMD hasn’t comment about a local release or pricing here in Australia yet but we suspect it’s roughly around the same time. (We’ll update when we get more information).
